Gidara Bugyal Trek
Gidara Bugyal is an offbeat trek route in Garhwal Uttarakhand. This monsoon trek takes you through lush meadows, dense forests, and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The trek starts from a village called Khirao in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, which can be reached by road from Joshimath. The highest point of the trek is Gidara Bugyal at an altitude of approximately 13,800 feet. Gidara Bugyal Monsoon Trek is known for its scenic beauty, with vast alpine meadows, beautiful wildflowers, and breathtaking views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dronagiri, and more. The meadows look stunning with colorful flowers during the monsoon season.The trek is considered moderate due to some steep sections, but beginners can also successfully complete the trek with proper preparation. Gidara Bugyal is a relatively less-crowded trek route which makes it an excellent choice for those looking for a serene trekking experience.

Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Bhangeli
Today you will start your journey from Dehradun and reach Bhangeli village after a long road journey. After arriving at Bhangeli you will be accommodated in campsite.
Day 2: Bhangeli to Rikoda
Today your trek will begin from Bhangeli and today’s campsite will be at Rikoda. The trail will be relative easy today as you will be hiking through lush green forests and meadows. The trail have a little steep ascent close to the campsite. Once you reach Rikoda campsite you will enjoy the serene surroundings.
Day 3: Trek from Rikoda to Thalotya
Today’s trek will take you to Thalotya camp from Rikoda. Initially you will be descending on the trail through hilly terrain then a moderately steep ascend will take you to Dokrani. From Dokrani you will descend again to reach Thalotya campsite which offers excellent mountain views so you will have a great time for the rest of the day.
Day 4: Thalotya to Tirya via Gidara Bugiyal and Gidara Top
Today is the biggest day of your trek as you will reach Gidara Bugiyal today. From Thalotya you will hike on an ascending trail to reach Gidara Bugiyal which is a beautiful alpine meadow and then ascend farther to reach Gidara Top that offers magnificent views of peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Dronagiri, and more. After spending some time in the bugiyal you will hike downwards.to arrive at the Thirya campsite.
Day 5: Thirya to Maneri via Bhangeli
The day begins with a descending trail to Bhangeli which you will complete within 3-4 hours. From there you will be transported to Maneri village which is 30 km away within one and half hour. You will be accommodated in camp or in a homestay in Maneri village.
Day 6: Maneri to Dehradun
On the final day of the trek you will head back to Dehradun from Maneri covering a disrance of around 160 km in 6-7 hours.
