Kedar Tal Trek Overview
Kedartal Trek is one of the most beautiful treks in the Garhwal Himalayas. In this trek you will pass through Bhoj Forest and hike to the glacial emerald lake called Kedar Tal and will also witness some mesmerizing snow-covered peaks like Thalaysagar, Manda Parvat, Bhrighupath, Gangotri, Bhagirathi, Mount Meru. Being an offbeat trek, you won’t find many trekking groups on this trail. The trail comprises of steep terrain as you have to traverse through boulders and encounter steep uphill and downhill. So this trek is meant for those who are strong both physically and mentally.

Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Gangotri
On this day, you would travel from Dehradun to Gangotri which will be a long journey. During the drive, you will observe changing views from the vast plains to the high hills. You will be accommodated will at the hotel upon reaching Gangotri.
Day 2: Gangotri to Bhoj Kharak
Today you will trek from Gangotri to Bhoj Kharak. At first you will cross the Bhagirathi River and then the trail will be uphill. The forest trail will have steep ascend and become so you have to hike carefully. From here you can hear the roaring sound of Kedar Ganga River. The trail then lead to a clearing where you can walk easily. After that you will reach the spider wall that you have to negotiate cautiously. Our experienced guide will help yu cross this area/ After a short while you will reach the Bhoj Kharak campsite from where you can see the beautiful Thalaysagar Peak.
Day 3: Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak
Today’s trail will be less difficult with a few steep ascends and descends. As you get closer to Kedar Kharak tree line will recede and you will see vast grassland and a lot of flowers. The trail then becomes steep uphill until you reach the campsite. There you may catch sight of blue sheep or Bharal, Himalayan Black Bear, Goral, and various birds. From Kedar Kharak campsite you will get magnificent view of the majestic Brighupanth peak.
Day 4 : Kedar Kharak to Kedar Tal
Today is the best day of this trek as you will reach Kedar Tal today. Your hike will begin with a very steep and you may come across snow here. The trails becomes muddy here and full of boulders, and loose rocks. Finally you will reach the lake after crossing a few streams and a steep ridge. The emerald water of Kedartal will surely mesmerize you, and you will also get 360-degree views of mountains like Thalaysagar, Manda, Gangotri, Bhagirathi, Brighupant, and Meru. You will spend the night in the picturesque Kedar Tal campsite.
Day 5: Kedar Tal to Bhoj Kharak
Today you will trace your steps back to Bhoj kharak. Before reaching the campsite you will have lunch at Kedarkharak. Night will be spent at Bhoj Kharak campsite.
Day 6 : BHoj Kharak to Uttarkashi via Gangotri
Today, you will trek down to Gangotri following the same trail you took previously. After reaching, you will be transported to the town of Uttarkashi. It will be a 4 hours journey by road and you will reach there by late afternoon.
Day 7: Uttarkashi to Dehradun
Today marks the end of your trek as you will be heading towards Dehradun. It will be a journey of 6-8 hours. You will surely enjoy the views of the hills for one last time before going home.
