Dayara Bugyal is one of the largest meadows in the Garhwal Himalayas and in winters the entire meadow gets covered by a thick layer of snow. The frozen Gui lake is another attraction of the trek as the sight of snow sheet on the lake shimmering in the morning sun is magical. The trek takes you to the Dayara Top from where you will get stunning views of Gangotri I, II and III along with Mt.Bandarpoonch and Kalanag peak, Jaunli , Srikantha as well as Draupadi Ka Danda I & II. All in all Dayara Bugyal Winter trek has everything it takes to tickle your imagination.

Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Raithal
Today you will be transported to Raithal from Dehradun. During this 8-9 hours journey you will come across beautiful patches of forests and the River Bhagirathi will flow alongside you. When you will reach Raithal after crossing Uttarkashi you will get a brilliant sunset view over the Mt Jaonli and Draupadi ka Danda peaks. Rest of the day you will be staying in a village homestay.
Day 2: Raithal to Chilapada
Today your trek will begin. Initially you will start hiking towards Gui. The trail is defined and gains altitude gradually and you will get prominent views of Gangotri 1, 2, 3 and Mt Srikanth. Then you will hike on a forest trail rich in oaks and rhododendrons, all covered with snow. You will arrive Gui in at the 4-5 hours where you will see a few huts that villagers use during summer months and a cottage of the forest department. From another hike of 3 km will take you to Chilapada. The trail from Gui is initially flat through the meadow called Gui Thatch. From here, you will get grand views of the crown of Mt Bandarpoonch. Them the trail becomes steeper and will take half an hour walk to arrive at Chilapada campsite.
Day 3: Chilapada to Dayara top to Chilapada
Today you will just have to walk for 30-minute through a forest trail to reach Dayara Bugyal. So, you will get a full day to enjoy the vista around. You can go for a stroll on the snow covered meadow. By afternoon you will start hiking back to Chilapada.
Day 4: Chilapada to Raithal to Uttarkashi
Today you descend all the down to Raithal so it will be better to start early. You will first reach Gui where you will have lunch. Then you will continue to hike back to Raithal and reach there by afternoon. From Raithal, an hour and half drive will take you to Uttarkashi where will be spending the night after a thrilling trek.
Day 5: Uttarkashi to Dehradun
On the final day of the trek you will be transported back to Dehradun from Uttarkashi. This 140 km long journey will take around 4-5 hours.
